You know a couple is loved by friends and family when it takes a full half hour to get thru the toasts. Family members and friends alike took up the microphone to not only regale the crowd with hilarious stories of Karen and George, but heartwarming wishes for their future. From his sisters letting everyone know just how relieved they are that George is finally married, to sweet stories of Karen’s kindness to new friends, even I was tearing up by the end.
There is a certain kind of joy that breaks over a wedding when the weather has been calling for 100% rain the day of the wedding and then, magically, the sun breaks thru the clouds a few hours before the ceremony. Virginia in the fall is breathtaking, add in some clouds and a little fog and it is just downright gorgeous! Poplar Springs Manor is perfectly situated in the countryside just outside of Washington, D.C. and you honestly feel like you have entered a previous century. And, you know me, I’m a sucker for historical properties. 🙂
Donned in a BHLDN gown and Badgley Mischka jeweled heels, Karen was absolutely breathtaking coming down the aisle along the tree-lined road just outside of the Poplar Springs Manor House. And George looked dapper in The Black Tux , but their pup, Henry, truly stole the show!
Karen and George, I wish you two all the happiness in the world as you set off on your next adventure!
